All About Apples!
(for Grade 2)
Apples come in all shades of green, red, and yellow.
The pilgrims planted the first apple trees in the United States.
Half of all the apples grown in the United states are sold as fresh fruit. The other half are made into apple products, such as apple sauce.
There are 7,500 kinds of apples around the world.
Apples are picked in the fall between August and early November.
There are about 5 seeds in each apple.
It takes 5 to 10 years for an apple tree to produce fruit.
Apples are not picked by machine, like other foods. Instead, people pick apples by hand.
